What We Do

The WHDOfor Community Empowerment has served as aaccompanying partnership catalyst for comprehensive efforts to transform low-income neighborhoods in Sri Lanka and to build a replicable model for rural community empowerment.

OUR INITIATIVES

In 2016 began with four areas of focus:

  • community empowerment —capacity building as well as support services
  • Education  efforts, especially targeted to scholarships  for school-aged
  • Feeding Programs Schools and Pirevenas
  • Community Empowerment and Institutions building CSOs CBOs WRDS
  • Environment conservation projects
  • Livelihood support
  • Disaster Response

Over the years, some initiatives have received greater emphasis and others less, depending on the needs at the time. Several were eventually re-created as new foundations or were given to other organizations for their care and stewardship.

ONGOING INITIATIVES

The WHDO for Community Empowerment is attempting to organize and advocate for the Empowerment of the target neighborhood. And for many years, WHDO has advocated for the Sustainable Development Strategies. Social impact business strategies and co-op practices have the power to drive growth and change throughout it target neighborhoods.
